The only time I've tried to find a group with a friend he was 5 and I was 35 and didn't even work. I'm not entirely sure though since I only have tried it once. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like it might just be Xbox One's networking. I feel like every game I play on Xbox One has issues matching people together. It seems like every developer that creates software for XB1 that has a network component has an issue. Hell, even my Twitch app decides it's going to broadcast sometimes and not others.
My NAT randomly switches back and forth between Open and Strict, even after trying multiple routers and setting up static IPs, but all of these issues continue even when my NAT is open. I'm wondering if there are some idiosyncrasies in the way XB1 connects over Live that is making the online multiplayer aspect of these games unstable. Particularly with it being relatively early in its lifecycle. It sounds like the networking issues may be on your end if every game and app is affected. Believe me, I've tried everything. My roommate and I have 2 Xbox Ones on one connection, and I think that's where a lot of the problems come from.
