Omg that reminds me of around the time Maci and Kyle broke up, and there were articles popping up how Kyle "found Maci's diary" and it was all about how she still has feelings for Ryan.

It's just a pathetic attempt by Ryan and his fam to save face and try to deflect because they all refuse to acknowledge or own up to just how much of an asshole and a fuck up Ryan is. They're just being lame and immature by saying "but Maci is no angel! I think this was clearly a throwaway line that MTV is milking for drama. All Jen is going to say is that Maci is so mean to her poor Ryan sometimes! I really feel for Jen because she is in a bad situation but even that one line hinting at some sort of equivalency between Maci and Ryan makes me angry.

This is exactly what is going on in my humble opinion! I personally took it as you'd first suggestion too, I have an aunt who is just like Mimi Jen with her only son, and she would never outwardly SAY that she thinks he's doing something wrong or lying, but she would say something like this to hint at it!
For me, it was the way she was like staring at him while she said it, as if to be like you know what I'm saying Rhine!
Why are any of you even giving Jen any sort of time? She's not a reliable source for anything ever and never has been.

The fact that you all jump to "Maci does pills too! I guess in hindsight I get what you're saying; I was really leaning towards it being something mundane like Jen knows he deletes messages or that they communicate more than previously thought. I doubt Maci has ever done hard drugs or given him money explicitly for drugs.
I think Jen is sick of Mack and Ryan being liars about it and painting Maci as something she's not. Oh I definitely believe Maci is being the truthful one. Just the way Jen said it has me on the edge of my seat! She wants to frame this as everyone has made mistakes, everyone is a little bit wrong. Ryan has never been a real father to Bentley, has lied like crazy to hide his drug addiction, nodded off while driving, etc.
Ryan needs to take accountability before we can start spreading the blame around. One person is like, look at the receipts right here and the other one is saying I wish I brought my old phone. One is also a known addict. An addict WILL lie and not consider the consequences and they know how to cause anxiety within the people around them. That would explain why Maci is constantly saying that Bentley looks like Rhine. She's trying to reinforce the lie.
So much that Kyle's mom apparently ran a dna test just to make sure.

Haha- it's not Kyle's. If you google pics of Ryan when he was younger, Bentley is definitely his. Maci has been wearing a knee brace. Maybe Rhine has gotten her pills before for her pain but since he still loves her he won't call her out.

That could also be how she knows for certain he isn't sober. Or they have a mutual hookup. I don't think she's addicted to pills but occasionally taking a pill here and there in TN is as normal as drinking beer. I have that same knee brace. She just strikes me as that type to go to raves and pop pills. The stretched out earlobes and love of alcohol.. I don't think she meant it as a dig at all to Maci, she just meant they communicate more than they tell people.

Look for that before getting your panties in a wad in the future. It never seems to be Rhine hinting at a 'secret,' only Jen saying 'there's things between them no one knows about' and that time Larry tried to say something but Rhine cut him off I think its likely Rhine lied about or misrepresented something Maci said to him to make her look bad and him good, and they believe him, but he won't ever let it come to light because the full story will show it not being true or him being the instigator.
I remember last season Ryan and Mac said something like, "if people only knew the truth about Maci" or something like that. So I thought that Jen bringing up some secret was an extension of that. Basically like Maci is some psychopathic evil genius whose mission in life is to destroy her son's father.
Maybe Maci has drunk dialed him and said some things she shouldn't have. It doesn't seem like Maci even knows there's a "secret" and you're spot on about how its only Jen and Larry saying anything. Or maybe years ago she bought pills for recreation or something one time and rhine knows about it and therefore tries to say she's on the same level as him. Or remember season 2 or something, when he told Dalis maci texted him saying he should leave dalis and hang out with her, and he implied like he thought it was weird maci said that and he rejection her, then at the reunion it came out that she sent the text after he first texted her complaining about dalis and saying he missed or something.
IF that part is even answered next week!! Maybe jenn texts Maci when Ryan goes on about her ignoring him and Maci sends her the receipts.
