They do offer deeded lots for interested parties but the price was very fair. This was our first visit to Holly Bay Campground, and boy were we pleased with this campground! The campground is very spacious and heavily forested throughout - to the point of barely seeing the campsite next to you. Laurel Lake borders nearly three sides of the campground, but with the woods all around, it is hard to see the water from the campsites.
The good thing is that there is a gorgeous, shaded hiking trail that goes down and around part of the lake.
This has become our favorite campground to visit as it is the most scenic, clean, and quiet we have been to. Once we got to the bottom, a fisherman told us he had just "hooked a copperhead". It was floating dead in the water-large. The trail is not for the physically infirm or snakeophobes. Wouldn't be our first choice for a return overnight stop. You share with the "buddy" next door but they have given privacy by bushes between the two patios. Other sites in the vicinity which were regular pull thrus looked quite unlevel. When the park is full it is pretty tight for all the vehicles.
Big grassy area that also includes a dog park. The sites on the other side are larger and seem more desirable but I do not know what utilities are available in that portion of the park. Good location; good road into the park. We stayed here the weekend before Fourth of July and other than the brutal heat at the time, really enjoyed it. The campground is well kept; looks like new gravel laid throughout the interior roads and sites. The RV park is not far off of the interstate, but feels like you are up in the mountains in a secluded area. The pool was well occupied while we were there; kids and families enjoying the weekend.
Lots of room for tent campers and many varieties of RVs. Our site seemed pretty level, but our RV wheels on the downhill side ended up in the air after using the leveling system. We needed to put lynx levelers under the jacks because the leveling system kept showing a fault due to the angle. The laundry room has four washers and two dryers, and last washer load must be started by 8 p. Site hook ups are grouped together between two adjoining sites, so you are close to one neighbor, but much more room on the other side.
Some sites had cement patios and were very spacious. We walked around some and noticed a few resident campers; their rigs and sites were well maintained so they didn't stick out from the rest. This campground spoiled us! The sites are huge and so private. Not a bad site on the grounds! Just beautiful and peaceful! We stayed in B10 and it was exceptional.

We reserved our site online a month ahead or so. Much of the campground is non-reservable and there was plenty of open sites throughout the weekend. Our site was next to the bathroom no shower in this bathroom, but showers were a bit further down.

We loved it since the water was super clear and nice. The beach is on top of the spillway, and there's likely more beach accesses closer to the Holly Bay Area that we didn't have time to explore. The lake is nice, you can safely explore the swimming areas outside the tiny designated swim area. There are dangers if the water is high, but there are plenty of giant signs to warn you of those if the conditions arise.
It was hard to imagine in August the water being high enough, but there was plenty of evidence of the water, likely when the dam is intentionally released. Will be back soon! We love the campground we have been coming here for 12 years, Four or five times a year. We never had one problem till this year the camp host came by about every hour and would inspect our campsite.
Just to make sure we were following the rules. We could not take the Nazi camp any longer.

Ways off I75 so not convenient overnighter We stayed a total of three nights here in July - one night on our way down to our furthest destination point, and two nights on the way back.
