The previous owners did not use the system, but I'd like to fully activate it. Thanks to these forums I was able to determine the master code, allowing me to configure the alarm system and get the majority of it working. It has 8 zones. All zones work except for zone 8 this is the basement and has three windows that use wired contact sensors similar to the rest of the house.
The "Trouble" light is lit on the keypad, but I've researched both codes, which are 1 and 4. We are using the alarm system, but I'd really like to get zone 8 working. One thing I noticed that I'm not sure is a problem is that when I arm the system, the "Bypass" message is displayed. However, I'm not sure if the original installer configured a zone 8 bypass that needs to be overridden a specific way I'm not sure if that's even possible.
Find all posts by stache The bypass message is quirk of their operating interface. The simple test is to take one wire off the zone 8 terminals. If the zone shows open, then the next step is to replace the contacts. If you have access to programming, the fail to communicate trouble is fairly easy to correct.

First the unit is bulky, over an one inch off the wall with a huge bezel.
It is missing some basic functionality you would expect, like you get with a Nest thermostat; there is no motion sensor built in so the screen is either on all the time or it times out, it has no support to turn on the display when you walk near the pad. It has no photocell built in so the unit does not dim or brighten based on ambient light.

Its clumsy to use. DSC claims the home buttons are "programmable," they can only be turned on or off. I bought the unit to eval, I may have kept the unit if the home buttons could have been programmed to control an output, but I cannot find support for this basic functionality. Considering the bulky, thick bezel and lack of programming, I think I am going to wait and see if DSC wakes up and designs something that looks elegant and functions like a modern home control with motion detection, auto dimming, and programmability maybe even wink.
Wake up DSC you are being left behind as you refuse to keep up and design something decent. I called ADT as I was having I called ADT as I was having trouble programming the pad. It took awhile to figure out the programming myself but I did it! This is so much more convient and so sleek! This is a must have for people with compatible alarm systems!!!! After we bought our home we stopped using the alarm for a while, the pad was a pain.
One touch emergency alarm! This may seem pricey but its worth every penny! If for no other reason than to find those hidden additional codes and remove them!

It works perfectly with my old DSC system. Simple install, no added programming needed if retrofitting into an existing DSC system. Looks great, functions well with EyezOn. Easy to setup just power down and wire I got the DCA pkt because my old flip pad tabs broke it kept opening up on its own. This unit is so much better.

Easy to setup just power down and wire in the 4 cords. It can act as a picture frame. It also makes it look really nice and modern. My old keypad looked like it came from this one looks like It works with smith and Thompson security. They don't always have the nicest looking gear but I wanted to keep their pricing and services.
